4 Quick & Easy Snacks for Kids

Preparing healthy snacks for your kids can sometimes give you stress when it comes to choosing between recipes that children find tasty but would also give them the energy they need to perform different school activities. Below are 5 healthy snacks that offer both taste and nutrition.

  1. Nutty Butter & Banana Tortilla – This one is so simple, your kids can make it themselves! Spread peanut or almond butter evenly over the tortilla. Place peeled banana on the bottom third of the tortilla. Roll the tortilla around the banana, it’s okay to straighten the natural curve of the banana. Secure with a toothpick if necessary. Slice into two or three pieces and it’s ready serve!
  2. Veggie Snack Wrap – Place a piece of lettuce in the center of a tortilla shell.
Top with lettuce, hummus, carrot, cucumber and roasted red peppers. Feel free to add cheese to add a little more taste. Fold in one edge of tortilla and roll up to serve.
  3. Apple Quesadillas – In a skillet, melt a small amount of butter and lay tortilla flour in the pan then top it with cheddar that is grated and put thinly sliced apple one side. After that, fold the tortilla in half then cook until it takes a golden color on both sides. Now it is ready to be cut into wedges.
  4. Sesame potato chips – For sesame potato chips, all you need is to preheat two baking sheets at 425 degrees Fahrenheit in an oven. Toss thinly sliced russet potatoes in salt and olive oil. Spread the potatoes on the hot baking sheets, and then sprinkle it with the sesame seeds and bake for 10 minutes.

These are just a few recipes that will make snack time a little healthier for kids. Serving snacks to your kids and even for yourself, helps prevent binging on or craving for junk food and is very important to provide good nutrition, help prevent potentially and costly disabling diseases like cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases, and obesity, and support healthy, lifelong eating habits.
